Dongnae Turns Two
On 27th September 2024, we opened the doors to Dongnae for the very first time. Somehow, two years have passed since then.
When we opened, our aim was to share traditional Korean cooking with Bristol in our own way. To introduce dishes and flavours that people may not have experienced before, while continuing to learn, develop and evolve ourselves.
A lot has happened in those two years.
We’ve built an incredible team, created countless dishes and welcomed some brilliant people into our kitchen. We’ve shared memorable dinners with friends from Higher Ground and 5 O’Clock Apron, travelled beyond Chandos Road for festivals and events, and had plenty of special moments within the restaurant itself.
Along the way, we’ve been incredibly grateful for the recognition Dongnae has received, from the National Restaurant Awards and Time Out to every review, recommendation and person who has taken the time to share what we do.
But more than any accolade, the thing we’re most proud of is the community that has grown around Dongnae.
To everyone who has walked through our doors, returned for another meal, recommended us to a friend, celebrated an occasion with us or simply supported what we’re trying to build, thank you.
You’ve made these first two years what they have been.
There is still so much we want to explore, both within Korean cooking and at Dongnae. We’re constantly learning, developing new dishes and thinking about what comes next.
So, here’s to two years of Dongnae, and to many more to come.
